CRASH BASH - MALLET MASH Very nice orchestral arrangement! A couple observations: - I like how you managed to keep all the ornaments, those are all little details which make the song more fun to listen to - I think the trumpet becomes a bit jarring after a while - the original sample is softer to the ears Accuracy: 9/10 Quality: 16/20 TOTAL: 25/30 ------------------------ F-ZERO: MAXIMUM VELOCITY - ENDING CREDITS Super chill tune :p - the arpeggio-ish sounds at 1:00 and 2:15 are a bit too loud (especially the latter) - drum claves and hi-hats sound a bit dry compared to the original song, maybe some echo could've worked here (you can hear a slight reverb in the original) Overall, it's very accurate. Great job. Accuracy: 9/10 Quality: 17/20 TOTAL: 26/30 ------------------------ JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURE - BLOODY STREAM - the slow vibrato on #3 gives some weird phaser effect on the brass sample. I'm not really fond of that, since it takes some of the instrument autenthicity away (sounds more synthesized). Maybe a faster vibrato would've worked better. - good job on the drums, they're way too quiet though - I would've gone full v255 with it :p - I feel like your arrangement sounds a bit washed-out in comparison to the original song, which is definitely more dynamic and energetic: for instance, you can hear some electric guitars playing in the background, and the organs sound grittier. Overall, there are a few crucial arrangement issues, but it's still an enjoyable port. Nice work! Accuracy: 7/10 Quality: 15/20 TOTAL: 22/30 ------------------------ MARIO KART DS - RAINBOW ROAD This is really impressive, virtually as accurate as it could be. A couple notes: - bass should have vibrato in certain places (e.g. 0:23) - perhaps you could've used some slight key-off release to make staccatos smoother in some instruments (e.g. strings), but I'm nitpicking here. Very well done! Accuracy: 10/10 Quality: 18/20 TOTAL: 28/30 ------------------------- MEGA MAN BATTLE NETWORK - RUNNING THROUGH THE CYBER WORLD A few notes: - some of the original counterpoints are missing, such as the one at the beginning (it starts with "c8.c8d8.c8.a>cdf"), not A# (a+>a+>df). It's not too big of a deal, but it does make things sound a bit different. Everything else is spot on. - great job with the bassline and the flute. I personally would've tried using a different instrument in the section starting at 0:49 (sounds more like an organ in the original). - I think the trumpet could use some more vibrato (e.g. $48 instead of $28 as amplitude value, that would spice it up a bit). It's not really an issue though, just something I thought I'd mention after listening to the original track. - hi-hat sounds more like a tambourine in the original music, plus it's a little less intrusive Excellent job overall, definitely one of my favourites! Accuracy: 9/10 Quality: 18/20 TOTAL: 27/30 ------------------------- SUMMON NIGHT - A FORMIDABLE ENEMY APPEARS This is pretty neat! I like the idea of using Romancing Saga samples, it does sound a bit like something Kenji Ito would make. My observations on the port: - I think the drums should be louder. The kick in particular is very quiet (maybe even a tad low-pitched) - organs are a bit loud on the other hand - I'm not too sure about the overall arrangement, I feel like it sounds a bit messy at times. The original song is quite frantic, but the simpler instrumentation makes up for it (I think it's more pleasant to the ears in the end). - TinyMM turns triplets into 16/32 notes for some reason. You can hear that the rhythm becomes a bit jerky at times - for instance, towards 0:45, there's a series of triplets in channel #3 which isn't really played correctly. Just to show you what exactly the problem is: - This is how they're written in your txt, and how TinyMM usually handles triplets: g+d^32a^32d b^32d^32 (l16) - This is how they should look: g+12d12a12d12b12d12 -> no alternation between 16 and 32 = way smoother! Accuracy: 7/10 Quality: 16/20 TOTAL: 23/30 ------------------------- TOUHOU 8 - GENSOKYO MILLENNIUM - ZUNpets <3 Good job with the tremolo and vibrato effects. - the bassline at 1:46 is a tiny bit chaotic to my ears (the original track uses a piano instead of a picked bass, I feel like it sounds softer somehow). Nothing major though. - super small nitpick: because of the kick drum sample being looped, you can hear a pitched sound when it plays (it sounds like a slightly sharp C). It gets masked by the bassline so it's actually unnoticeable for almost the whole track, except for a brief moment at 1:32 where it's the only instrument playing. Overall, amazing arrangement! Sample choice, mixing, harmony are all on point, and it's very impressive to hear how accurate it is. Loved all the little details such as tremolo and tempo fades.
